When : | Every Tuesday 10pm - 2am |
Where : | 4107 Colley Ave, Norfolk, VA |
Observations : | EBM, New wave, Gothic, Industrial, Dark Wave and all that German Electronic stuff. Decorated with Diamond Plate Alunuimum all over the floors and walls. Fairly large inside with 3 rooms: main room, smaller room, pool table room. When weather permits, there is a small patio that is opened. Additional information by Victor Nazarian. Parking is very easy, well-lit, and convenient in a lot right out in front of the club with more parking in the streets nearby. Inside the club, I noticed aluminum diamond plate EVERYWHERE, along with stainless steel pipes and mirrors. The place has a sort of electropop/cyberpunk feel. You walk right in, pay your cover at the desk on your left, and you're essentially right in the action. The big main dance floor is the central "thing" in the club which is a large sunken pit affair with raised observation railings/walkways around two sides of it. Along the "front" of the dance floor is an interesting stage that is so narrow as to really only be good for walk-across style fashion shows and maybe sitting on and chatting. It is much too small for a band to set up. It adds a nice look because it is backed by cool stainless steel pipes assembled vertically: shiny and orderly, sort of like a new slaughterhouse or maybe Frankfort Airport, depending on your frame of mind. The club has generally good lighting with some moving and variable lights and a nice built-in sound system. I didn't notice any special effects like lasers or fog, but they may have just not been bothering to use them. The DJ's control everything from a raised booth that overlooks the dance floor and entrance and is easy to get to if you have requests, suggestions, or just something to get off your chest. DJ Vikki Wilson was there that night playing good "euro” goth, hard industrial, lots of techno, and some 80s. The club features three very nice bars; only one was open while I was there. There were about 70 people in attendance the night I showed up and I consider that pretty good for any club on a Tuesday Night. Eat before you come, because there was no food available that I was able to find. Drink prices were reasonable with mixed drinks at $4.25, and soda $2. In addition to the dance floor and bars, there are three pool tables and boatloads of nooks and crannies and various places to sit and hang. Cocktail tables and chairs are scattered here and there, as well as stools by the bar and an extra-secluded, quiet back area with booths for lap sitting and conversation. |
